with Gary Thomas, in collaboration with Anaïs Bouts
Funded by Capture, the national strategic agency for dance and moving Image

“…in the polymorphous world of the burlesque, where everybody gives and receives blows at will… violence is universal and without consequences, there is no guilt.”
Pascal Bonitzer, Le Champ aveugle (1982)

Burlesque alludes to the performative nature of the racism and violence witnessed in the infamous Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse and torture photographs of 2004. Burlesque was screened at: EMAF European Media Art Festival, Osnabrueck; Bandits-Mages Festival, Bourges, France; and featured in ‘Everyday Discrepancies’ a film programme to support ‘Assume Nothing: New Social Practice’ at the Art Gallery of Victoria, Canada.
